Bank of America recently made a $100 million philanthropic commitment to support Coronavirus related community needs across the globe. Bank of America has so far directed $805,000 to 19 local nonprofits addressing the immediate virus-related needs of:
- Hunger: Food assistance and meal delivery to vulnerable households
- Education: Virtual and online continuing education programming
- Shelter: Rapid redeployment for shelters, rental assistance and other emergency housing services
Among these nonprofits are Three Square Food Bank’s Coronavirus Emergency Food Fund that with the bank’s grant will provide an additional 360,00 meals; the United Way of Southern Nevada’s Emergency Assistance and Community Needs Fund providing rental assistance; Clark County School District’s Public Education Foundation that is training teachers for online education, and funding Google Chrome Books and WiFi for Title1 students adapting to online classroom learning; and Nevada Community Foundation’s COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund to purchase PPE for first responders and healthcare providers.
Additional recipients include: Boys and Girls Club of Southern Nevada, Catholic Charities; Gay & Lesbian Center of Southern Nevada; After School All Stars; Help of Southern Nevada; Lutheran Social Services; Olive Crest; and Opportunity Village; among others.
