Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada (CCSN) will host its 33rd annual Thanksgiving Turkey Drive, and is calling for major support from the Las Vegas community now until Nov. 27 in order to adequately serve approximately 5,000 families through its Hands of Hope Community Food Pantry.
Donations of frozen turkeys and nonperishable dinner fixings such as boxed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, green beans, cranberry sauce, and canned yams will be accepted daily from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. seven days a week at the Catholic Charities campus, located at 1501 Las Vegas Blvd. North, Las Vegas, NV 89101.
CCSN urges community members to give in any capacity they can, including going the extra mile to organize their own food drive in neighborhoods, churches, businesses, offices, or schools. Volunteers are also needed in assisting families as they shop for Thanksgiving ingredients this holiday season. For more information about how someone can host their own food drive, or volunteer sign-up details, visit CatholicCharities.com.
For more than three decades, CCSN has hosted the valley’s largest turkey giveaway, helping thousands of families serve an authentic Thanksgiving meal during the holiday season. The Hands of Hope Community Food Pantry has seen a 64 percent increase in clients served since 2018, and now serves more than ever before – around 5,000 men, women and children monthly.
In addition to providing thousands of families with an opportunity to host their own Thanksgiving holiday feast by taking advantage of the food offered at the food pantry, CCSN will also serve its 54rd consecutive free Thanksgiving meal to roughly 1,000 homeless and vulnerable men, women and children as well as deliver 2,200 holiday meals to the homebound seniors through its Meals on Wheels program.
