Help defeat lung cancer, the number one killer of women in the United States, one step at a time by participating in the American Lung Association in Nevada’s LUNG FORCE Walk on December 1, 2018 at Cornerstone Park, 1600 Wigwam Pkwy, Henderson, NV 89074 at 10 a.m.
“We are working to defeat lung cancer, as well as the stigma that often surrounds lung diseases,” said Kristina Crawford, American Lung Association in Nevada executive director. “Non-smokers are also diagnosed with lung cancer. The scary truth is we are all at risk for this deadly disease. If you have lungs, you can have lung cancer.”
The American Lung Association’s 2018 LUNG FORCE “State of Lung Cancer” report shows that the five-year survival rate for lung cancer is less than one in five, making it the leading cause of cancer deaths in the United States. This is because most lung cancer cases are diagnosed at a later state when the disease is less curable.
LUNG FORCE Walks are a signature fundraising event for the American Lung Association. Through inspiring music and a fun, supportive vibe, the nonprofit rallies friends, neighbors and colleagues to raise voices against lung cancer—and for lung health for everyone.
Individuals and teams can register to participate at www.LUNGFORCE.org/LasVegas.
There is no registration fee for LUNG FORCE Walks, however participants are encouraged to fundraise. Funds raised will support the American Lung Association’s goals of providing $10 million in lung cancer research; $5 million to increase public health promotion including awareness of early detection tools, and advocating for increasing federal funding for lung cancer research to $450 million by 2020.
