Community Safety Forum: Elder Abuse and Exploitation
Sunday, April 15, 2 p.m. – 3 p.m. The monthly Community Safety Forum, held in partnership with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and generously sponsored by NV Energy, will focus on elder abuse and exploitation. Guests will learn about the laws pertaining to elder abuse, examples of crimes and scams perpetrated against seniors, and guardianship and power of attorney laws.
The number of elder abuse reports continues to increase every year and research shows that for every case reported, five go unreported.
The presentation will discuss the many forms of elder abuse—food deprivation, neglect, isolation and physical harm—and investigate what actually constitutes abuse and how to report it. Take-away materials include prevention strategies and victim resources.
Community Safety Forums are always free and include admission to the Museum that day, courtesy of NV Energy.
