Nominations are now open and will be accepted online through Monday, May 1, 2017 at http://www.vegaswomentechawards.net/. Award winners will be recognized and honored by our community during a ceremonial event scheduled to take place on Friday, June 2, 2017.
Newly added this year, the National Center for Women & Information Technology (NCWIT) will present the Aspirations in Computing Program award to recognize young women interested in technology and computing.
Although U.S. women represent half of the college-educated workforce and continue to grow in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) fields, they remain underrepresented and make up only 29% of the science and engineering industry; per ngcproject.org/statistics.
“The Women in Tech Awards appropriately acknowledges the success of the women’s movement in encouraging young women to explore STEM careers, and assures continuing focus on technology-focused career opportunities for all,” says Jack Myers, founder of WomenAdvancing.org, an organization committed to supporting and communicating industry opportunities to women.
