Las Vegas NV, (Sept 22, 2016) — The American Red Cross of Southern Nevada is proud to announce the winners of the 2016 Red Cross Everyday Heroes Awards. The awards ceremony will be held at the Paris Las Vegas Hotel on October 6, 2016 at 07:30am – 09:00am.
“The Red Cross is honored to be able to recognize the people who go the extra mile to help someone else, or risk their own safety for the life of a complete stranger,” said Red Cross Executive Director Scott Emerson. “The winners have such incredible stories to tell and they are each truly inspiring,” he added.
The 2016 Red Cross Everyday Heroes Award Winners are:
Michael Jones – Adult Good Samaritan: Presented to an ordinary resident above the age of 18, for an extraordinary act of heroism or courage.
Greenspun Jr. High School – Youth Good Samaritan: Presentedto an ordinary resident under the age of 18, for an extraordinary act of heroism or courage.
Nellie Holleman – Lifetime Achievement: Presented to an individual in recognition of their lifelong dedication and consistent support to further a cause that benefits the Southern Nevada community.
Sr. Airman Edward Ramos – Military: Presented to a member of the armed forces (active or retired, commissioned or non-commissioned) whose heroic action demonstrated exception courage.
Anthony Bruno – Firefighter: Presented to a professional or volunteer firefighter or emergency dispatch operator whose bravery in action went above and beyond the call of duty.
Lt. Jill Morrison & Sgt. Travis Snyder – Law Enforcement:Presented to a law enforcement agent who took decisive action to save a life.
Grace Church – International Service: Presented to an individual, group or company in recognition of their commitment to humanitarian efforts in other parts of the world.
Barry Bannister, Fitz & Ashley – Animal Rescue: Presented to an animal that is making a difference to impact someone’s life, or to an individual involved in the care of animals.
Peyton M. Howe – Aquatics: Presented to a lifeguard or ordinary citizen whose quick thinking prevented a serious water-related injury or drowning
Christina Curtiss – Medical Professional: Presented to a doctor, nurse or EMT whose lifesaving actions went outside the scope of duty
South Sudan Center of America – Community Impact:Presented to a community group, neighborhood organization or local company that consistently demonstrates a commitment to making Southern Nevada a safe and more compassionate community.
Donna Gamble – Community Service: Presented to an individual in recognition of volunteering their time to help others in the Southern Nevada community.
